Kadavu has been forgotten by the mass market. Our girls loved spending time helping in the kitchen, driving the boat and playing with the locals. We offer diving for all levels of experience with a large variety of beautiful dive sites. The journey on the speedboat to reach Oneta was thrilling. I felt they were genuinely having fun at work with guests and their colleagues. We were lucky to have great weather for this journey! On a more typical review note the resort itself is lovely. That can be found in many places..... We wanted to engage with local communities and embrace Fijian life and we were were able to do just that at Oneta. The staff were so great with the kids, really having fun with them and connecting with them through humour and adventure. We landed at Kadavu Airport and were greeted by Sim, Sicco and Liz, the owner, who all gave us a very warm welcome. We really felt part of Fiji for the short time we were there. Our stay at Oneta Resort was one of the most incredible experiences we've had. It is located on Ono Island, a member of the Kadavu Group, directly south of Viti Levu, Fiji’s main islands.
Every member of the Oneta staff made us feel welcome and engaged with us. And to the people of Oneta: Thank you to each and everyone of you, whatever your role, for creating a place so special. The rooms are very comfortable: great bed with mosquito net and outdoor shower/indoor bathroom (and no tv - we did not miss it). We loved chatting to Liz and Richard ( the manager) over dinner and we got a real sense of how Oneta has evolved since Liz and Martin took over ownership. They were so welcoming and we loved how they made us feel like we were the first visitors to Oneta, proudly sharing their Fijian customs and traditions. Please come by again on your next world trip!
Liz was at the resort for a few days when we were there. The location is naturally beautiful and very well-maintained.
We had massages and also went diving. Your warmth and kindness shines through in your every day actions and we feel humbled and incredibly lucky to have been a part of this. Despite our rough arrival where we had to endure 3 hours of frigid rain on the bumpy speedboat ride, this was soon forgotten. In saying that, the staff are so accommodating they would do anything in their power to accommodate your needs. Our only critique is we wished there were more breakfast options as cereal and toast every morning got slightly repetitive. I highly recommend Oneta. Which languages are spoken by the staff at Oneta Resort?The staff speaks multiple languages, including English and German. Oneta is incredibly special and we can't wait to be back with our PADI diving licenses to explore the pristine, unspoiled Astrolabe Reef.The Turtle Lair has the most amazing views but the lamps did go out quite often, so bring a few...Like most other guests looking for a family holiday, we had extremely high expectations after reading all the outstanding reviews for Oneta. Oneta is a small family run eco-resort on one of the most untouched and beautiful islands in Fiji. We had the one featured on the website and Tripadvisor (Turtle Lair) and the view was spectacular.
