our customers so if you asked us ah who are our customers we ah ah bring in the informal ah small customers into the mainstream financial system so ah today we have around five million live customers who have been brought in from the informal to the main stream and every year ah we add almost ah ah one point five million informal custom ah into the into our financial system so these are the ah nano micro retailers and and these customers were ah during the lock down ah most of them were not operating and ah many of them who were in the essentials where ah functioning so during the third week of the lock down we started contacting these customers ah to just to understand what is the plan ah lock down and we found that many of these customers ah needed ah more working capital to restart their business and also they needed guidance and advises to get into the ah post or the new normal what we call so we found that this was something which was needed at this point of time so we ah brought in talks who are the ah leaders in ah the innovation ecosystem and and also they ah look at ah accelerating ideas so that is how we both ah in talks and came together to start this advisory ecosystem in I want to say in this new economy this is how things are gonna happen no one of us is gonna be able to do it all ah we have no journey and for almost a decade ah you know they have been big part of system etc so when they had an idea and we have been wanting to do something which came together and literally within two weeks we are able to launch something that would have taken each of us months to figure it out so we are very complementary to each other ah I mean is a very very trusted source and they have already as a journey was talk over five million customers and we have an interest in ah creating an innovation ecosystem or all the way to the form of the pyramid so we thought if we came together and launch this where mentor ah network is step one if we can create something where these people can have any questions if they can come to one place to get all answers and also get access to resources a lot of times people have ah you know resources available to them that they don't even know exist so that's the purpose because we both came together with very complimentary skills we could accelerate the process much faster and actually launch it and then keep on improving it what is your sense in terms of what are the MSME's feeling they are definitely feeling the heat we all know that they are the most impacted sector and you know several of them are bleeding several have shut down and this is the reality and well documented as well ah given the situation given that both of you have launched a mentoring platform my question to you is what is the kind of anxiety and and stress levels that you are witnessing currently ah you know in within the the MSME sector in terms of ah you know their share state of well being ah fitness or or non so if you have to just put three three of their bigger anxieties of worries one would be ah funding requirements ah whether it is ah small or a medium they need funding to restart their business second is how they can control cost because they have been ah during this ah four months during the lock down there they had lot of expenses whether it is the utilities or may be to maintain a bit of their staff so they had expenses so how how to those expenses and the third thing is is on when can we expect demand to come back so ah these these are the three major ah anxieties for worries for these segment of customers lot of the questions you know like ah as journey was saying are about really the first thing of how do I stay float how do I stay in to be able to catch up when things open up ah and how are you looking to ah let's say address all these ah rather fundamental queries ah that are required to be addressed for them to make that transition to to somewhat remain a float to make that pivot into let's say digitising their business ah you know how do you see this hand holding process ah in terms of actually getting them ah to become ah you know saviour but also would you say that it's also a mindset challenge because a lot of these micro players are not ah you know ah educated enough ah to understand the nuances that require the change or do you think ah they have been ah quit to act and quick to change in this sector we find the most resilient people you know they are not afraid at all if we tell them that hey this is what will get you to the next place they will learn anything you know so there is not a fear of technology per say there hasn't been an understanding of the utility of technology once they understand the utility they are all on board so I mean actually Johny has an experience where some of these numbers having free so I let Johnny and sir but I just wanted to say that as a sector the least fearful ah sector you know ah they are totally fearless and they are very resilient I think everybody yes now understood that the technology is going to be the key player in their business and wherever possible they'll have to adopt technology and bring those ah changes in answering process like on the website there are ah all the questions whether I have been asked in the past are there so you can go look at what are some of the answers been as of now it's only in English and we are working on getting it in other language just as well as we said it's only less than two weeks since we launch this so we made it very easy to ask questions and get answers as quickly as possible right now and we've also that's some schemes right now whatever is from the government from other sources whatever we know is available for them it's posted there with details on how to access it so you know in the next few days and weeks will be adding more such services et cetera that will make it easy for them to ah become digitally educated you could throw some light and what are these schemes that let's say specifically designed ah for the sector so ah in the in the third week of the lock down when we were contact in the customers we found that many of these customers wanted ah more funding for restarting their business so we came out with ah schemes where in ah they don't have to pay up their earlier known areas ah they could take a floor and ah they can restart their business and they could pay back ah the the first loan at extended period of time and the second loan which ah they have taken to be repaid whenever they find ah enough ah cash flow that was one product and the second second product was on the need for these customers to ah buy laptops ah for for households to buy laptops the small business families to buy laptops we came out with a very good product or for ah these customers ah to to get into because most of their children were ah doing online courses so we found that that was another need and immediately we came out with the product for ah ah laptops and ah these are the two products which ah we have come out and ah there has been good response first product which known as the Ashwas ah core loan which ah the of take was almost ah seven hundred and fifty crores ah in two months and in the in the first four months we have discussed outmost ten thousand crores in the other products I see ah you know just to ah ask you a question basis ah you know contour latest findings when they have done in ah you know you know an intensive survey on ah how MSME's have been ah coping in the pantetic and during the lock down ah some of the key findings that they came with and I wanna put this to both of views that you can tell me if this is the similar kind of concerns questions you are also getting on the portal ah is that most of them are unaware of the government's relief scheme ah and even the ones that are aware of it are hesitant to actually ah you know away of the scheme would you say that that is an accurate insight and finding to that extent that was a fact but now most of the banks ah both the PSU banks and the private banks have been proactively calling the customers thanks to the follow up from the finance minister I understand he has a weekly review with the banks and the NBFC's and the private banks ah to understand how much of disbursement has been ah there in the emergency credit guarantee scheme so I think with that push I think now lot of money has come into the market and lot of money has been availed by the ah ah MSME's ah that is going to benefit ah them at this point of time see I think it's not only there are two things one is there are MSME's there are registered and there are an only probably twenty twenty-five percent of MSME's there are out there are actually registered and there are many there are not even registered so they don't even know of these schemes so just educating them on what's available is gonna be a huge task ah you know so but the good thing is once they know ah their ability execute is also very fast because as I said it's a very very ah resilience sector so I think lot of them don't know such schemes exist and when they do their action is quite quick ah right oh how are you you know handling your own outreach program for people to be educated that such a ah you know mentoring ah platform and an advice free platform is available what is your outreach program so ah there are let me do three categories and I like journey to talk about what they which is that actually quite a bit is one is you know reaching through people who already have such as they already have finally and people so they can make calls they can send SMSs there is a lots of things they can do and secondly there are people who have services that they give to MSMEs for example there are companies that will help with getting people on digital getting people to ah you know answer calls and you know there are business is like now floats is a company for example in Hyderabad they are just focused on they have an app and they are focused on making an SME digitally Savin as few steps as possible so there are other businesses that cater to small businesses we are working with them to say how do you spread it and thirdly our own campaign restart India campaign itself we are planning a lot of social media campaign WhatsApp campaigns etc to just people be aware of here there is a place come and see ask your questions and see what's available see ah for us ah we have got three thousand six hundred branches across India and we cater to a almost a lack of customers everyday more than a lakh of customers so the ability to reach out to these customers and to do simple service ah among these customers is a big ah strength for us and ah the simple SMSs which we can ah send to these customers ah ah saying that these kind of ah ah facilities are available and ah this is where you should ah come for information and ah and lot of word of mouth also would be there ah from our network of customers ah it's there a charge for this mentoring platform there's absolutely no charge it's ah absolutely free yeah it's our social ah ah you know to just make this available for everybody and to come ask any question to get an answer to understand ah any of the schemes that's available it's totally open totally free ah not just for our customers not just with health are there any health schemes I mean like for example we are talking to various health initiatives say what is available for ah you know the MSME's sector meaning people in that economic range what kind of insurance policies are available what kind of schemes are available which we will be overtime listing all of them so we have very well known people like that who are at the top of their industry and we also have people who are everyday writing answers so just three examples of people that we have the ah nano micro retailers and is the largest ah employer in in the country today after sector so I think ah there is a huge potential if we can and hold ah these customers I think ah with the ah dream of taking the economy to the five million like for twenty-five I think could be going to ah play great and contribute almost thirty-one percent to the GDP and by ah twenty-four twenty-five ah the the aim is to take it to fifty percent so there is much we can do for the sector and
