I can't believe Maury has been on since 1991. Why is this show still on?
This show was decent back in the '90's (circa 1993-1998) I'll give the show that much credit. The audience's almost robotic behavior seems to be affected by who was onstage first and not what gender they are; they will usually view anyone who goes against what the person they heard first says as a "bad person", regardless if they are male or female, as women have been booed for claiming men were the fathers of their babies simply because the lady was onstage second. I've seen lots of low quality material. What a sad world we have become. Maury is just another dime a dozen piece of garbage. It never is about anything other than humiliation of the "guests." I was a big fan of Maury Povich when he hosted "A Current Affair" back in the late 80's. Was this review helpful? The sister's significant other turned out to be not the father, and the woman had appeared since that show to test more men.It's never "...determined you were telling A LIE" or "...determined THAT'S THE TRUTH", probably to make it less predictable. I can't believe that this show has been on the air for 12 years! I watch the KTLA morning news every morning here in LA and I sometimes catch the first few minutes of this show if I don't change the channel in time and every morning its the same garbage "Who's the father" I remember over a decade ago when Maury fist came on and like Sally they were all Oprah clones yet they at least tried to do more respectable and hard hitting subjects but as we all know Jerry Springer changed all that and Maury fallowed him down the garbage path. I am surprised that Maury and the rest of the crew hasn't moved on to more hideous episodes such as "DNA tests on aborted fetuses," and "rapists tell all," or "lets humiliate the victim of rape" and "which family member is the molester, lie detector tests show?" 13 out of 15 found this helpful. Take this show off the air, please. I used to watch Springer when it was new and laugh at the stupidity but after several years of that crap - I stopped watching. Get rid for good of this guy and Springer, Cheaters, judge shows, murder, bad language, sex violence. This show is a filthy piece of crap, women running away crying like babies and all these men running all over the stage celebrating that they are not the father of their child. I am so sick and tired of some of these trashy shows on television. His paternal grandfather, Nathan Povich, emigrated from Lithuania to the United States in 1878 at age 12. And whats scary is that is what a lot of the public wants... Maury as it's host, kicked butt. On one show he'll be telling women that dressing like a slut and acting like a slut is wrong and try to reform their ways. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm way too lazy to change the channel when I leave the TV on FOX late at night while doing homework, I'd probably have never been exposed to this awful dreck. He was the only person that I slept with!
Which is an endless string of programs that does nothing to inform or educate the public. The show was almost playing second fiddle to Jerry Springer. Was this review helpful? Montel has Sylvia, Oprah has Dr. Oz and best friend Gayle, Tyra has Janice, Jerry has his Steve and what does Maury have, D. West. He comes out and the audience would boo or catcalls him, Maury doesn't let the guy fully explain his story because of the audience which consists of nothing but lazy, good-for-nothing imbeciles that should be at work, not on talk shows feeling sorry for people that air their dirty laundry on national TV.
